If the question is, which is the best selling phone ever? Everyone will probably answer in one sentence: Nokia 1100 or 1110. Nokia 1100 or Nokia 1110 both were button phones. And both were sold for over 230 million, one in 2003 and the other one in 2005.
But if the question is, which is the best selling smartphone? So now we have to think a little. There is a lot of diversity here. There are some expensive phones, some less expensive phones on the list.

1. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are designed by the most reputed smartphone company Apple Inc. It was the 18th generation of iPhone and came out right after the iPhone5 on 19 September 2014, though Apple announced on September 9, 2014.
It basically came out right after the iPhone 5S with two slogans “Bigger than bigger” and ”The two and only”. Over Four million were sold on the first day of release, and 13 million on the opening weekend. And a total of 222.4 million were sold in 2014.
2. Nokia 5230
Nokia 5230 also known as Nokia 5230 Nuron, was manufactured by a famous company Nokia. Nokia released it in November 2009 though it was being announced in August of the same year. It was only 115gm with a stylus and 3.2 inches screen touch display.
The Nuron version was released in North America. Over 150 million products were sold in 2009 and one of the best selling phones ever.
3. iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
12 September 2017, The press was invited by Apple to a media event at the Steve Jobs Theater on Apple Park Campus. Then they announced at that event about “ iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus”. And released iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, On 22 September 2017.
They were succeeding iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus. In 2017, Apple sold it over 86.3 million. Finally, Apple announced the second-generation iPhone SE and discontinued the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, On 15 April 2020.
4. Galaxy S4
Before release, it was first publicly shown on 14 March 2013 in New york city. And Samsung released it, On 27 April 2013. This was the fourth smartphone of the Samsung Galaxy S series and produced by Samsung Electronics. Galaxy S4 came with the Android Jelly Bean operating system.
Within the first six months, Over 40 million phones were sold and over 80 million were sold in the single year 2013. Eventually, it was the fastest-selling smartphone and also Samsung’s best-selling smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy S4 was made available in 155 countries on 327 carriers. In the next year, the successor of this phone Galaxy S5 was released and then this phone started selling less.
5. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are the 10th generation iPhone and succeeding iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.
7 September 2016 Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the iPhone and iPhone 77 plus at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
These phones were released on 16 September 2016. Like iPhone5 they also spread in numerous countries worldwide. And in 2016, Apple sold over 78.6 million phones and it is now on the best selling list.
6. iPhone XR
iPhone XR pronounced by “iPhone ten R“. It has a similar design to iPhone X. The iPhone XR can be immersed for about 30 minutes in 1-meter deep water. Apple started receiving pre-orders on 19 October 2018 though it was released on 26 October 2018.
It can be got in 6 colors: white, blue, coral, black, yellow, coral, and Product Red. It sold 77.4 million in 2018.
7. iPhone 11
13th Generations and Lower price phone by Apple. And the selling of the iPhone 11 is “Just the right amount of everything”. The phone officially released on 20 September 2019 through the pre-ordered began on 20 September.
Like iPhone XR it is also available in six colors and operating system iOS 13. Here it should be mentioned that only before one day of release the iOS 13 was released officially. The new phone and the new operating system attracted more consumers. Apple sold over 75 million dollars in 2019.
8. Galaxy S3 / iPhone 5
The slogan of Galaxy S3 Was “Designed for humans, inspired by nature”. On 29 May 2012, it was first released by Samsung Electronics. Galaxy S3 was the third phone of the Galaxy series and succeeded by Galaxy S4 in April 2013. The operating system of this phone was Android, not Symbian.
On the other hand, Apple announced iPhone5 on 12 September 2012 and was first released on 21 September 2012. It was the first phone that was completely developed under Tim COOK and the last one overseen by Steve Jobs.
But both of these were sold over 70 million in 2012.
