iPhone 5G 2020 Updates: Will The iPhone 2020 Lineup Integrate 5G Technology
Mar 07, 2022 • Filed to: Latest News & Tactics About Smart Phones • Proven solutions
You might already know that Apple is all set to release a new lineup of iPhone models in 2020. Though, there have been a lot of rumors and speculations about the iPhone 12 5G integration these days. Since the compatibility with 5G technology will make Apple iPhone models much faster, we all are expecting it in the upcoming devices. Without much ado, let’s get to know more about iPhone 2020 5G and what major updates we have so far.
Part 1: The Benefits of 5G Technology in iOS Devices
Since 5G is the latest step in network technology, it is expected to provide faster and smoother connectivity to us. Already, T-Mobile and AT&T have upgraded their network to support 5G and it has also been expanded to a few other countries. Ideally, the iPhone 5G 2020 integration can help us in the following way:
- It is the fifth generation of network connectivity which will highly improve the internet speed on your device.
- Presently, the 5G technology supports up to 10 GB per second download speed that would affect the way you access the web.
- You can easily make FaceTime video calls without latency or download large files in seconds.
- It will also improve the quality of voice and VoIP calls, reducing call drops and lags in the process.
- The overall network and internet connectivity on your iPhone 12 lineup would be highly improved with 5G integration.
Part 2: Will there be 5G Technology in the iPhone 2020 Lineup?
According to the recent reports and speculations, we are expecting Apple 5G iPhones to be released later this year. The upcoming lineup of iPhone models would include iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. All three devices are expected to support 5G connectivity in the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Japan as of now. As the 5G technology would expand to other countries, it will soon be supported in other regions as well.
Since the new iPhone 2020 models are expected to get Qualcomm X55 5G modem chip, its integration is pretty evident. The Qualcomm chip supports 7 GB per second download and 3 GB per second upload speed. While it has not saturated the 10 GB per second speed of 5G, it is still a big leap.
Presently, two major 5G network types are available, sub-6GHz and mmWave. In most of the major cities and urban areas, we will have mmWave while sub-6GHz would be implemented in rural areas as it is a bit slower than mmWave.
There has been another speculation that the new iPhone 5G models would only support sub-6GHz as of now since it has a wider coverage area. In the coming updates, it can expand the support to the mmWave band. We can also have both the technologies integrated to expand the 5G penetration in the country.
Ideally, it would also depend on your network carriers like AT&T or T-Mobile and your present location. If you live in a major city and are going for an AT&T connection, then you would most likely be able to enjoy the iPhone 12 5G services.
Part 3: Is it Worth to Wait for the iPhone 5G Release?
Well, if you are planning to get a new smartphone, then I would recommend waiting for a few more months. We are expecting the release of 5G Apple iPhone models in the coming September or October of 2020. Not only will the 5G technology be integrated into iOS devices, but they will also offer a wide range of other features.
The new iPhone 12 lineup will have revamped design and will have a screen size of 5.4, 6.1, and 6.7 inches for iPhone 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max. They will have iOS 14 running by default and the Touch ID would be under the display (the first of its kind in iOS devices). The highest specification model is also expected to have a triple or quad lens setup in the camera to get those professional shots.
Not just that, Apple has also added new color variants (like orange and violet) in the iPhone 12 lineup. We are expecting the starting price of base models of iPhone 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max to be $699, $1049, and $1149.
The ball is in your court now! After getting to know about all the speculated details of the new iPhone 5G models, you can easily make up your mind. Since 5G would bring a drastic change in your iPhone connectivity, it is certainly worth the wait. You can wait for any other official statement from Apple to know more or do your bit of research as well about the upcoming 5G Apple iPhone models by then.
