Apr 28, 2022 • Filed to: Data Recovery Solutions • Proven solutions
My iPhone got dead yesterday. I had recently backed it up when I installed iOS 9.3.2. My question is, is it possible to recover the photos and videos that resided on it? I didn't sync it with iTunes recently. Any suggestions?
How to Recover Data from Dead iPhone
To recover the deleted data from dead iPhone, you need the help of a third-party program, which can help to directly scan your iPhone and take data on it. If you don't have a choice yet, here is my recommendation: Dr.Fone - Data Recovery (iOS). This iPhone data recovery software can help to recover data including contacts, SMS, photos, videos, notes, and more, including recovering data from broken iPhone and recovering data from iPhone in recovery mode, etc.
Dr.Fone - Data Recovery (iOS)
World's 1st iPhone and iPad data recovery software
- Provide with three ways to recover iPhone data.
- Scan iOS devices to recover photos, video, contacts, messages, notes, etc.
- Extract and preview all content in iCloud/iTunes backup files.
- Selectively restore what you want from iCloud/iTunes backup to your device or computer.
- Compatible with the latest iPhone models.
Part 1: Recover Dead iPhone data by extracting iTunes backup files
To use this way to retrieve data from dead iPhone, you need to have an iTunes backup file at first. That's to say, you've ever synced your iPhone with iTunes before. Then you can do it.
Step 1. Run the program and check your iTunes backup file
After running the program, click "Recover from iTunes Backup File" from the side menu. Then you will see a list of all your iTunes backup files. You can choose any of them, and then click "Start Scan" to begin.
Step 2. Preview and recover data for your dead iPhone from iTunes backup
The scan will take you a few seconds. Once it's complete, you can preview all extracted content from the iTunes backup. Choose the category on the left side and check every item on the right. Tick the item that you want to recover and click "Recover" to save them all to your computer.
Part 2: Recover Dead iPhone data by downloading iCloud backup files
To recover dead iPhone data from iCloud backup files, you need to have an iCloud backup. If you've enabled the iCloud backup feature on your iPhone or made an iCloud backup before, this way works for you.
Step 1. Sign in with your iCloud account
Choose "Recover from iCloud Backup File" from the side menu of Dr.Fone. Then you can see the window as follows. Enter your iCloud account and sign in.
Step 2. Download and extract your iCloud backup content
After you get in, you can see all your iCloud backup files listed. Choose the one for your iPhone, and click "Download" to get it off. When you do this, make sure that your internet connection is perfect. Then click "Start Scan" to extract the downloaded file later. This will take you a few minutes. Just do it according to the reminding message.
Step 3. Preview and recover data for your dead iPhone
When everything is done, you can preview the data one by one and decide which item you want. Check it and click "Recover" to get it.
Part 3: Find dead iPhone data directly by using System Repair
To achieve dead iPhone data recovery, first you need to check out whether your iPhone is damaged in hardware. If so, nothing could help. Just buy a new one. If not just connecting your iPhone to Dr.Fone and using System Repair to have a try.
Step 1: Boot your iPhone to Recovery Mode or DFU mode.
Recovery Mode: Connect your iPhone to your PC. Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Then press and quickly release the Volume Down button. press and hold the Side button until the screen shows the Connect to iTunes screen.
DFU Mode: connect your iPhone to PC. Press the Volume Up button once quickly and press the Volume Down button once quickly. Long press the Side button until the screen turns black. without releasing the Side button, long press the Volume Down button together for 5 seconds. Release the Side button but keep holding the Volume Down button.
